The modern tendency is to depersonalize the Spirit, to treat God the Spirit as reducible to an idea of spirituality or an attribute of God, rather than God’s own personal meeting with persons living in history. It’s important for us to understand that the Holy Spirit desires to be active in our lives. The Holy Spirit acts as a person. He guides (Romans 8:14), He convicts (John 16:8), He calls (Acts 13:2), and He commissions (Acts 20:28). God desires every believer to walk in the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
