MARRIAGE & FAMILY

Home: Where Faith is Built

We want to come alongside you in building and nurturing a healthy, Christ-centered family. That's why we've created resources throughout the year to help educate, motivate, and strengthen individuals, couples, and families.

Premarital Program

Preparing Engaged Couples for a Healthy, Christ-Centered Marriage

If you're getting married, our Premarital Program is a great resource to prepare you for life together with your future spouse.

In the program, you'll...
  • Take the Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts assessment to learn more about yourself and your fiancé.

  • Walk through your assessment results with our Marriage & Family Pastor, Marty Graverson, and identify specific areas to focus on during the rest of the program.

  • Be paired with a mentor couple from NMC to meet with before and after your wedding. You'll get to learn from a seasoned couple’s real-life experiences and build a lasting friendship with another couple who will support, challenge, and encourage you throughout your marriage.

This program is open to anyone but is required for those being married by an NMC pastor. The cost is $75 per couple to cover the assessment and materials.

Foster & Adoption Ministry (FAM)

Led by a team of volunteers with a heart for families, our Foster & Adoption Ministry strives to come alongside children and their families to help with the unique challenges they face.
Are you a foster or adoptive family looking for more information? Ministry leader, Hilary Jarrell, would love to connect with you! You can reach her at HilaryJarrell@nmc.church

Foster & Adoptive Families Support Group

Wednesday Nights (August - May)

6:45-8:00 PM | C 184 | Led by Phil and Jenny Ummel
This is a safe place to come and share your successes and struggles in your foster/adoptive journey. Our goal is to encourage and learn from each other as we keep our focus on God's Word. Occasional training opportunities are also available.

All foster and adoptive families are welcome to the support group, even if NMC isn't your home church. No need to sign-up, just come as you are!

Foster Family Care Communities

What is a Care Community?

A group of five to eight individuals or couples support a foster family through prayer, weekly meals, mentoring, and childcare. Nationally, half of foster families stop fostering after the first year, but with the Care Community model, 90% of foster families continue.

Interested in joining a Care Community? Choose a role that fits your schedule and gifts!
Team Leader | Get to know the foster family more closely, and have a front-row seat to many answered prayers! Your tasks will take less than one hour a week, but you'll need to be consistent in this role. You’ll make a quick weekly phone call to the foster family to note their needs and prayer requests. Then, update the Care Community through a weekly group email.
Family Helper | Help fill practical needs for the foster family by supplying a monthly meal.
Childcare or Child Mentor | Be more involved in the life of a child and get to pour love and encouragement into them. This commitment includes offering childcare to younger kids in a foster/adoptive family or mentoring a foster, adoptive, or bio child for four hours a month.
