Fact of Fiction, a KidMin Musical
During a fast-paced game show known as “Fact or Fiction,” kids from two schools answer questions about the true facts of Christmas. The families of these students have had a tough year, because many of the parents were laid off during an economic downturn. The kids competing in “Fact or Fiction” aren’t just looking for the satisfaction of winning. They also are looking for the cash prize to give to their desperate families. Weaving in lessons about teamwork, the danger of pride and overcoming fear, Fact or Fiction tells the Christmas story in a unique way.
When KidMin began rehearsals in September, it took a while to work out all the kinks, but now, they are excited and ready to share this musical with the church. Sunday night will begin with musical entertainment provided by the preschoolers and a game show for the audience before Fact of Fiction begins. When the show starts, you will follow Tony, Mia, Randal, Joy and more characters through their journey as they learn valuable lessons and the true meaning of Christmas.
The KidMin musical has become a tradition at NMC and a joy for the many kids involved. This year over 70 kids are participating, ranging from Kindergartners to fifth grade students. Countless volunteer hours have been put in to create the stage props, to direct the musical and to teach kids the songs. It’s set to be an evening of great music, lots of laughter and moments the whole family can enjoy.
Fact or Fiction is this Sunday, December 6, at 6:00 p.m. in the Worship Center. After the musical there will be coffee, cocoa and cookies served in the Grand Hall. The whole church is invited to this wonderful NMC tradition. Bring the whole family and enjoy a night of laughter and fellowship over music and food.
Fear Not, NMC Worship Choir and Winds Musical
In our ever-changing world, the promises of God still ring true. During this year’s Worship Choir and Winds musical, one promise will be heard through music and lyrics. The theme, do not be afraid, will be woven throughout the entire evening, reminding those who are listening of the angelic proclamations given during the birth of our Savior. Featuring songs like “Do Not Be Afraid” and “Whom Shall I fear,” this hour-long musical will provide moments of peace in a busy Christmas season.
Although the choir and winds will perform songs that most of the audience will not know, the evening will also include a section of worship songs such as “Heart of Worship” and “I Give You My Heart.” There will be sing-along Christmas carols including “Joy to the World” and others. During this part, David and Shannan Vincent and their family will tell the Christmas story through narration and song.
This year’s musical features solos from Anita Stutzman, Judy Borntrager, Randy Clark and others. All-in-all, over 150 singers and musicians will perform during the evening as a full orchestra fills the stage in the Worship Center. This group, who has been rehearsing since September, will remind you of the peace that came with the birth of Jesus and the promises given to His people throughout scripture.
The 29th annual Worship Choir and Winds musical will be December 12 and 13. Both evenings will begin with spiced cider, coffee and cookies from 5:15-5:45 p.m. in the Grand Hall. The performance each night starts at 6:00 p.m. in the Worship Center. Childcare will be provided for nursery through three years old.
In a busy and chaotic season of the year, take time to pause, reflect and celebrate through music and lyrics. Consider blocking out time for the KidMin musical or the Worship Choir and Winds musical. Step into the warmth of each NMC Christmas tradition with your whole family as you celebrate this Christmas season.
