Fanning the Flame | Student Ministries

I just got off a conversation on Skype with Lindsay, a college Sophomore who is spending a semester in Thailand. Although she is unsure of the specific direction of her life after college, she knows it will involve cross-cultural ministry to the marginalized, minimized and despised. Lindsay would mark Fanning the Flame 2013 (as a Senior in our High School Ministry) as a moment where God crystallized that calling.
Ray’s Bicycle shop is the ministry Lindsay is working with during her time in Thailand. Kayla, a 2010 NMC grad, is the founder of Ray’s. Kayla would mark Fanning the Flame 2008 (as a Sophomore in our High School Ministry) where God clearly spoke to Kayla that her life was not going to fit the “normal” pattern. Now she runs a business whose purpose is to minister to street kids.
These are two of many lives who have been deeply impacted for eternity through our Student Ministries Fanning the Flame services. Our hope and prayer is that God would show his favor and faithfulness to unfold new stories from this year’s gathering for our Middle and High School Students.
We are excited to welcome back Jon and Brock to our Middle School Rallies. They both serve in the Middle School Ministry at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Jon is a passionate communicator who has an uncanny ability to speak deep truths in a timely fashion that will connect well with Middle School students. Brock brings an energy level to worship that is unmatched!
The members of the Southeast Christian High School Ministry are joining us for a first time with our High School Rallies. Brad serves as the pastor for the main Southeast Campas and Brent for the Oldham Campus. Prepare to laugh, sing and be challenged as these guys share with us.
The theme for this year’s Student Ministries Rallies is This Church Family. Each night we will look at what it really means to be the Church, and how much it truly reflects a family.
Sunday – We Move Together
Monday – We Love Authentically
Tuesday – We Live Sacrificially
Wednesday – We Risk Obediently
