5 Ways to Come Alongside our Partners

If you’ve been around NMC for very long, you know that our hearts beat for people locally, regionally, and globally. Often, we’re looking for more ways to come alongside our strategic partners in our area and around the world. We believe the church is at its best when we love, serve, and stand with one another. Here are few ways you can do just that.
We are so excited to welcome our friends from El Sembrador Farm School in Honduras in just a few weeks. El Sembrador is a Christ-centered school that provides education and hands-on training for the next generation of men and women in Honduras. During their time at El Sembrador, students are taught both in the classroom and in chapel. The boys who live at the school also learn practical skills that they can use well after graduation.
On May 16, a few of our friends from El Sembrador will hold an information session at 5:55 PM in the Courtyard Commons. This meeting is for anyone who would love to hear more about the ministry, what God is doing, and how you can support and pray for the students. Meetings likes this are also great reminders to our partners that we are standing with them, that they are not alone in ministry. Join us, and show a little love to our El Sembrador friends.
The Revolution Church
Recently two teams travelled to The Revolution Church in Gary, Indiana, to help renovate their café. Their hope is that the café becomes a space for their own version of Table Talk, as well as a space for people in the community to gather throughout the week. It was an honor to help create a place of ministry for both people in the church and the community.
On this trip, teams had the chance to share a meal with Ryan and Johanna on Friday evening as well as share their testimonies with the group. In the morning, they spent time alone with God before diving into the work that needed to get done. One of the best parts was the opportunity to work alongside volunteers from The Revolution. Through demo, painting, and cleaning, NMCers had the chance to get to know people they may not have otherwise met.
And the work isn’t over! We hope to send another team early this summer to help finish the project. Be on the lookout for your opportunity to join the team.
Every year, our back-to-school Global Impact team heads to the Juarez area to work with our partners Rosa and Lucio Ontiveros. This area is home to four churches that serve the local communities and share the love of Jesus with them.
Our team specifically serves the churches by distributing backpacks and school supplies to families who can’t afford them. Along with joining church services, this team also hosts back-to-school fiestas for people in the community. These parties are a great way for people to connect with our team as well as local church members and leaders. Through face painting, games, skits, food, and much more, families are able to celebrate with one another as they build relationships with the churches. This Global Impact team is great for anyone who has a desire to serve others and join the work God is doing in the Juarez area.
Final details will be released about this trip in the next week, so be on the lookout for more information in the bulletin and on our website.
AGC Baby Centre, Kenya
Year after year, lives are changed when people have the opportunity to visit the AGC Baby Centre in Kenya. This place exists to rescue orphaned and abandoned children, raise them in a loving environment, and find adoptive parents for them. Over the years, the AGC Baby Centre has provided hope for hundreds of children, finding forever families that love and care for them as they grow up.
Every fall, a team from NMC heads to the Baby Centre to spend time with the babies, loving on them and playing with them. They also take time to encourage and support the staff who care for the babies day after day. In addition to participating in a church service with the Africa Gospel Church, they may help with various projects that need some extra hands around the Baby Centre.
If you have a heart for caring for kids or would love to serve at a place like the Baby Centre, this Global Impact trip is for you! You will be challenged and encouraged by the kids’ stories, by the love and dedication of the workers, and by the work God is doing in and through this place. Final details will be released about this trip in the coming weeks, so be on the lookout for more information in the bulletin and on our website.
A Role for Everyone
Sometimes we like to know the very tangible things we can do for our partners, but often this means we underestimate the power and need for prayer. Whether or not you can serve on a Global Impact team or attend an informational session, you can always pray for those on the front lines of ministry. Our partners always need wisdom and courage as they lead and discern where the Holy Spirit is guiding them. They always need reminders of why they do what they do. They always need encouragement. May we be a church who stands with our partners in both the tangible and the intangible.
