For most of us, summers take on a different rhythm. The days are longer, and the warmer temperatures send many outdoors. We bask in summer sunshine and watch summer storms. There is a uniqueness and beauty to every season, but there is something about summer that screams joy and freedom and family and friends. So we celebrate a new season, a change in the weather and scenery, and opportunities that were stuck in storage bins during the winter.
At NMC, we welcome this season with open arms and invite you to embrace it with us. It’s never fun to do summer alone. Let’s experience it together. Here are a few things in particular we are excited about.
Wednesday Night Programming
You may have heard us say that Wednesday night is family night at NMC. By this, we don’t mean that only those with families should come but that there is something for every age. An infant can be cuddled in the nursery. A toddler or preschooler can make a craft and a friend in KidMin. An elementary, middle, or high school student can find a kind leader to help them walk through life. An adult can be discipled through our various electives. This is true both during the school year and the summer!
We will have programming during June, and we would love to see you there.
Adults | Fieldhouse at 7 PM
This summer, we are focused on Unleashed Partners. We will have the opportunity to hear from our various local, regional, and global partners. Last night, we heard a few of the many incredible stories from recent Global Impact teams and caught a glimpse of a few of the upcoming teams. Here’s what we’ll focus on for the rest of June:
- June 13: Local Partnerships- Teen Challenge
- June 20: Regional Partnerships- The Revolution Church and Transformation Ministries
- June 27: Global Partnerships
High School | YMC at 7 PM
Join us as we connect with each other and dive into the Word with our SOAR interns.
Middle School | Heritage Hill at 7 PM
This summer you’ll have the chance to get to know our SOAR interns on Wednesdays as we play games, eat food, and dive into the Word.
K-5th Grade | Aquarium at 7 PM
This summer is packed with fun games and experiential lessons that all ages will enjoy! Come join the fun as we praise God with high energy worship and learn about the truths of God’s Word.
Ages 3-5 | KidzTown at 7 PM
Pack your bags, and join us for a Bible adventure to learn about God’s true story! Hear important truths from Shine and Emily, sing along with Mr. Music, memorize a verse with Guy the Bible Guy, and see how the Bible applies to everyday situations with Blinky.
Nursery | Zoo at 7 PM
The nursery provides a safe, warm, and secure place for your child to be loved, changed, and cared for.
6th and 7th/8th Grade Summer Block Parties
Is there anything better than spending an afternoon outside with friends? This may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but did I mention that this afternoon also includes a pond and a rope swing? Sixth through eighth grade students have the opportunity to hang out with our SOAR interns and Middle School Ministry staff at the 6th and 7th/8th Grade Summer Block Parties! The 6th Grade Summer Block Party will be Monday, June 11, from 12-4 PM. It will give incoming 6th graders a chance to hang out with our MSM staff for the first time. The 7th/8th Grade Summer Block Party will be June 18, from 12-4 PM. Both days, students will be able to swim in the pond, play sand volleyball and other yard games, and eat good food. The Block Parties are $3. 6th graders can register here. 7th/8th graders can register here.
Friday Family Fun Night
Back by popular demand is another KidMin Friday Family Fun Night! If you’re the parents or family of a kindergartener through fifth grader, you’ve no doubt experienced our movie nights, Pumpkin Palooza, the Amazing Mother/Son Race, and other awesome Friday Family Fun Nights. You won’t want to miss the next one coming up July 20 from 6:30-8:30 PM. Families of K-5th graders are invited for an evening of family-friendly activities, snacks, and a fun movie! It’s sure to be the perfect beginning to your family’s weekend, so mark your calendars and plan to join us at this free event.
We’re so excited to experience this summer’s activities as a church; there’s no other crew that we’d rather walk through this season with.
